Before Winter is a solo performance based on multiple cases of Black Trans Women who have been discovered in various lakes and rivers across the United States. Merging text, sound, and movement, Before Winter creates a haunting piece of theatre as it tackles ongoing issues concerning violence against Black Trans women.

 

About Tony Kunst:

Tony Kunst is an interdisciplinary artist, scholar, director, and educator. Their work has been seen at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago, Theater Wit, Bay Street Theatre, First Stage Theatre, Metropolis Theatre, The Chicago Physical Theatre Festival, Illinois Humanities Council, and several other locations. 
 
They hold a BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Carolina University. Additionally, they studied at The Theatre School at DePaul University within the MFA in Acting program and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago within the MFA Performance program. Currently, they are a Ph.D. candidate in Performance Studies at Northwestern University.
