Synopsis
Ivan is living in the Caucasus with his mistress, the wife of a much older man. Desperately bored and disheartened by his situation, he plots to return to St. Petersburg, leaving his mistress behind. Ivan bargains, lies and steals in his futile attempts to escape, but his dishonesty and cowardice are exposed. In order to save his dignity, he engages in a duel. Faced with the inevitability of his fate, Ivan discovers love, friendship, and the true dignity of one's self.Content Advisory
